Door seals are the cheapest part in a spray booth and the one most likely to cost you a job. A booth holds a slight positive pressure so that filtered air pushes outward through any gap; once a seal hardens, cracks or pulls away from the channel, that pressure bleeds off and the booth starts pulling shop air — and shop dust — in around the door instead. The result is nibs in a fresh clearcoat and a panel that has to be sanded and resprayed. At this price, replacing a tired seal is cheaper than a single redo.

Usage & Care

Apply to a clean, dry surface. Old adhesive residue and solvent film are the usual reasons a new seal lifts within weeks, so scrape the channel back to bare metal and wipe it down before laying the new strip in.

Typical service life is around two years, but inspect at every filter change: run your hand along the closed door and feel for draft, and look for rubber that has gone hard, shiny or cracked at the hinge end where it flexes most. Replace damaged sections promptly rather than waiting for a full changeout — that is why it is sold in 10-foot strips.
